The Education Ministry has denied reports being circulated on WhatsApp that children who test positive for COVID-19 will be covered by the "Suraksha" Insurance Scheme.
Issuing a statement, the ministry stressed that such reports are false and added that Education Ministry Circular 04/2021 dated 17.03.2021 details all instances where recepients qualify for the Suraksha Insurance scheme. Those interested can download the circular from the Education Ministry website or obtain more information by contacting the regional offices of Sri Lanka Insurance.
The false WhatsApp message claims children who test positive for COVID-19 are eligible for Suraksha benefits while compensation is also issued to students who lose a parent to COVID-19.
