The newly formed coalition “ Uttara Lanka Sahabagya” (Suprime Lanka Coalition) led by Wimal Weerawansa today has strongly criticized the government move to appoint 37 state ministers.
Leader of the National Freedom Front Wimal Weerwansa addressing a press conferance said that appointing 37 state ministers is a bad move during the prevailing economic situation as a greater expenditure need to be spent to sustain the ministries.
He also added that the concept of all party government was violated as most state ministers are from the SLPP. Mr Weerawansa claimed that this move might have been taken by President Ranil Wickremesinghe to secure his position.
He also added that the President before taking office said that the political system should change to move forward, yet now has done the same as the previous government by appointing the same members.
He also added that their coalition would not align with the SLPP but would welcome SLPP members who would join their cause.
