A 26-year-old youth drowned yesterday while bathing in the Deduru Oya in Chilaw. The victim was rushed to the Chilaw Hospital but was pronounced dead on admission.
The victim, a resident of Panadura, had been among a group that had been returning from a trip to Anuradhapura. They had decided to bathe in the Deduru Oya on their way home when the incident occurred. Chilaw Police are investigating.
