A total of 1,024 additional drug suspects have been taken into custody within a 24-hour period that concluded at 12:30 a.m. today (17) during the nationwide anti-narcotic operation ‘Yukthiya’ by police and security forces.
Of the people who were arrested, 699 were detained on drug-related allegations, while 325 more were listed as sought criminal suspects.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Public Security has issued detention orders against 13 suspects for further interrogations whilst 8 are being transferred for rehabilitation .
The special police operation also resulted in the arrest of 45 suspects who were on the Police Narcotics Bureau and Police Special Task Force's registered suspects list.
The Ministry of Public Security reported that during this 24-hour period, drugs including 227g of heroin, 168g of crystal methamphetamine (Ice), 8 kg of cannabis, 13,892 cannabis plants, and 647 prescription tablets were taken into custody.
