The All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama (ACJU) has requested Muslim females wearing the Niqab (face veil) to uncover their face for identification purposes during the presidential election.
ACJU Deputy Chairman Agar Mohamed, in a statement, urged that those casting their vote do so on time and extend their “fullest support” to the officers on election duty.
He also said it would be advisable for women to travel in vehicles and return home early to avoid “any unhappy occurrence”.
