The Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) has called for a report on the investigations being conducted on Dr. Mohamed Shafi Shihabdeen of the Kurnegala Teaching Hospital.
Police spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara said the report had been called for as a written complaint, regarding Dr. Shafi had been made to the acting IGP yesterday (June 28) by Parliamentarian Ven. Athuraliye Ratana Thera.
The police spokesman said Acting IGP, C.D. Wickremaratne has informed the Senior DIG of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) today (June 29) to submit a report on the matter.
The written complaint lodged by Ratana Thera claimed that investigations into Dr Shafi had not been conducted properly by the CID.
In addition, Police Media Spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekara told media that further action will be taken according to the outcome of the report.
