Attorney General Dappula de Livera has instructed the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) to inform him of the team appointed to investigate the Brandix COVID-19 cluster as no such probe was initiated, an official from the AG office said.
According to the Coordinating Officer to the Attorney General Nishara Jayaratne, the AG department learnt there were no such police investigation team appointed despite the request by AG to submit the report by November 13.
Earlier, AG instructed the Acting Inspector General of Police to take steps to appoint a team to investigate the spread of COVID-19 from the Brandix apparel factory in Minuwangoda after criticisms leveled against the management of the factory for alleged mishandling of the initial stages of the virus within its premises.
