AG summoned over Lalith and Anusha's bail applications

The Colombo High Court yesterday issued notice to the Attorney General (AG) to appear before court on September 20 to present facts pertaining to the bail applications filed by former President's Secretary Lalith Weeratunga and former Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) Anusha Palpita. 

Weeratunga and Palpita were sentenced tp three years Rigorous Imprisonmen (RI) and fined Rs2 million by the Colombo High Court on September 7 after they were found guilty of misappropriating Rs 600 million in funds belonging to the TRC to distribute 'sil cloths'.  The court also ordered the duo to pay Rs 50 million each in compensation to the TRC.
