The Sri Lanka Air Force conducted its first ever aerial seed bombing operation in Nochchiagama today (Dec 13) in a bid to restore forest cover.
Accordingly, the first load of approximately 5000 seed bombs including Karana, Mee, and Kumbuk varieties along with 48 different nutrient mediums were dropped in the Ranorawa Government Forest across a land area spanning five acres.
The project was carried out under the initiative of Air Force Commander, Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy.
