Former Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam has ruled out chances of scrapping the scheme to issue free tabs to students.
He said that 90,000 tabs have already been ordered and the stocks are already on the way and they could not cancel the project.
The comments came in the wake of attempts by the new government to cancel the Tab project. He said that it was unfair to cancel the project as it was a useful project for the students.
Mr Kariyawasam said that even the Suraksha Insurance scheme should be continued for the benefit of the students. However, the Education Ministry has already ruled out that they would scrap the student insurance scheme.
