Akkaraipattu police division in the Eastern province has been declared as a COVID-19 high-risk zone by Eastern province Governor Anuradha Yahampath.
The announcement was made by the Governor after 58 persons from the police division were tested positive for the virus and 86 COVID-infected persons were found from Kalmunai.
She has requested health and security personnel to make sure residents in the area are following quarantine rules and asked residents to limit travel to other areas in order to contain the spread in the province.
