Members of the All-Island Project Assistants Collective organised a protest on Wednesday (26) near the Presidential Secretariat demanding that the government provides them jobs as promised.
They said 7150 of their members received new job appointments in September 2019, and were due to take effect after the last Presidential elections. However, the appointments have not been given so far. Some of them had quit their previous jobs and now without either.
A spokesman for the organisation said that they have faced two interviews so far, but the government has failed to keep to the promise.
