The Excise Department has announced that all liquor stores islandwide will be closed on Christmas Day.
The Department said in a statement that Excise officers have been informed in this regard and that legal action will be taken against those who break the law.
Further those enaged in the illegal transportation and operation of illegal distilleries will be arrestd and prouced befrore courts.
In addition, the Excise Department said that close to a 1000 officers will be deployed in this operation and the public can report any illegal activities on the hotline 1913.
