President Maithripala Sirisena has asked all MPs who attended today's All Party conference at the Presidential Secretariat, that in order for him to consider the outcome of the No Confidence motion (NCM) brought against PM Rajapaksa and the government favourably, the vote needs to be taken electronically or by name.
The President's media issuing a statement said that the President told the gathering that a voice vote under the circumstances was not timely and that a proper procedure has to be followed and that the above voting methods were the accepted standards especially in the current context of making a significant decision. The meeing had gone on for two hours
Meanwhile, a party leaders meeting is to convene tomorrow prior to the commencement of Parliament at the Parliamentary complex. The statement issued by President's media said that the meeting was to discuss how best to conduct Parliamentary proceeding in a non conflictive manner.
