Governor of the Northern Province Mrs. PSM Charles issued a special directive today to close all private tuition centres in the Northern Province until further notice in order to ensure welfare of the students from the threat of coronavirus, Governor’s Office said. This decision came in the wake of the Ministry of Education announcing yesterday that all schools in Sri Lanka will be closed till April 20.
The Governor also requested the local authorities such as Municipal Councils, Urban Councils and Pradeshiya Sabhas to ensure that this order is properly implemented and that everyone should cooperate with it.
Meanwhile the Governor’s office also said that there is no shortage of food items or fuel in the Northern Province as of now.
