Leader of the Mahason Balakaya movement, Amith Weerasinghe has been further remanded until June 04 over charges of inciting communal tensions in the country.
The remand order was issued during a hearing before the Colombo Magistrate's Court today (May 29).
During today's hearing, the Colombo (South) Crimes Investigative Division submitted a report containing evidence against the suspect, to Colombo Additional Magistrate Shalani Perera.
Court also heard that the Police were conducting further investigations on the suspect under the Public Security Ordinance, Emergency Regulations, and the Prevention of Terrorism Act.
The attorney representing the accused had rquested court to release the defendant on bail. Accordingly, the Magistrate declared that a decision regarding the request would be announced on June 04.
