In what seems to be another U-Turn for UNP MP Wasantha Senanayake, he has reportedly joined a cabinet meeting with President Sirisena presiding despite claims previously that he would resign from his Ministerial post and support the UNP again.
The MP who at the Parliamentary premises on Nov 14 said that he will tender his resignation to the President has seemingly changed positions. Minister Udaya Gammanpila speaking to media confirmed the Ministers attendance.
“I joined them thinking that they have the majority, but it seems that is no longer the issue. I will work with any government for my people,” MP Senanayake once said responding to questions from reporters in PArliament that day.
Mr Senanayake had accepted the ministerial portfolio of Tourism and Wildlife and was sworn in before the President.
However, after the vote on the no-confidence motion against Rajapaksa at Parliament on Nov 14, Senanayake held discussions with the UNP and announced his decision to tender his resignation.
