Police have used tear gas and water cannon to disperse a protest march conducted by university students near Parliament premises in Battaramulla a short while ago.
The protest march, organized by the Inter University Students' Federation (IUSF) was held against the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM). Students are protesting the proposed Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) Bill allowing SAITM students to be enrolled at KDU.
