Former Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) Anusha Pelpita has been appointed as the Secretary to the Ministry of Industries effective from the first of January, 2021, the Government Information Department said.
Earlier Mr. Pelpita, along with former Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga were given a 3-years RI term and fined Rs. 5 million after they were found guilty for misappropriation of Rs 650 million of state funds to distribute ‘Sil clothes’ to people before the Presidential elections in 2015.
On November 19, both were acquitted from the case by the Court of Appeal.
