Government expenditure for 2017 is estimated to be over Rs.1,819 billion (One thousand eight hundred nineteen billion five million forty-four thousand), according to the Appropriation Bill 2017 which was published in the Gazette today.
The limit on borrowings for 2017 has been set at Rs 1489 billion (One thousand four hundred eighty-nine billion two hundred five million four hundred thirty-six thousand rupees).
Cabinet this week approved the Appropriation Bill 2017. Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayaka said he would present the Bill to Parliament next week.
