Minister Arjuna Ranatunga has been appointed as the co-leader of the Gampaha District to handle campaigning activities of New Democratic Front (NDF) Presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa.
The appointment was made by United National Party (UNP) leader Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Speaking after his appointment yesterday, Ranatunga rejected claims that presidential candidate Premadasa had signed agreements harmful to the country.
“I wish to state very clearly that no agreements have been signed to that effect. If such agreements are signed even I would not be here,” he stressed.
Ranatunga will also be in charge of co-ordinating the political activities in the Mahara electorate of the Gampaha district.
