Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva has issued instructions to senior officers to display only the Army crest and the state emblem in Army offices, the Army Headquarters said.
This is in keeping with a directive issued by the Presidential Secretariat, military spokesman Major General Sumith Atapattu said in a statement.
Accordingly, all Army establishments have been instructed to adhere to the directive of the Army Chief “with immediate effect”, the spokesman added.
After assuming duties, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa instructed state institutions to display only the national emblem and remove portraits of political figures.
