Following a complaint by a group of Buddhist monks, author Shakthika Sathkumara was arrested and remanded for penning a short story which was viewed as being derogatory to the Buddhist faith.
Mr Sathkumar has been remanded until April 09 by the Polgahawela Magistrates Court today (Apr 02).
A complaint was filed by a group of clergymen against the author for publishing a short-story by the title
'Kalu Makara' (Black Dragon)' which the complainants claimed was against the Buddhist faith.
The short story which was alleged to have insulted the Buddhist faith centered around cases of alleged sexual abuse taking place inside Buddhist temples.
