The submission of evidence in the case against former Chairman of Avant Garde Maritime Services Nissanka Senadhipathi and the former Chairman of Rakna Arakshaka Lanka Limited, Retired Major General Palitha Fernando has been postponed until June 28.
This was announced when the case was taken up for a hearing before the Colombo High Court Judge Shashi Mahendran today (Apr 03).
The former Chairman's of both companies have been charged under 47 counts for soliciting a bribe of Rs 35.5 million during transactions concerning the Avant Garde floating armoury. Meanwhile, the Attorney General had told court that the former Rakna Lanka Chairman had obtained the bribe on seven occassions.
The Bribery Commission had filed the case by claiming that the bribe was solicited between 2012 and 2014 and had violated Sections 17,19, 21, and 25 of the Bribery Act, between 2012 and 2014.
