Thirteen suspects involved in the Avant Garde illegal floating armoury case have been summoned before a three-member trial-at-bar on September 27, to receive indictments filed against them.
The Attorney General (AG) had filed 7,573 charges at the trial-at-bar which has been set-up at the Special High Court, against the suspects for violating the Firearms Ordinance, Explosives Ordinance, and the Penal Code.
The suspects have been charged over the illegal possession and transportation of firearms and ammunition, and also for providing false evidence over the case.
Among the 13 suspects are Avant Garde Chairman Nishshanka Senadhipathi, and National Police Commission Secretary Saman Dissanayake.
