Transport Service Management Minister Mahinda Amaraweera has issued instructions to provide compensation to the victims of yesterday’s (Jan 6) bus accident in Badulla.
Amaraweera had instructed the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) to grant a compensation of Rs 50,000 for a deceased victim. The death toll of the accident stands at 12.
Injured victims are also to be granted compensation by the SLTB.
Yesterday's accident had occured when the bus belonging to the SLTB had tumbled off a precipice along the Passara - Madulsima road leaving 12 dead and atleast 30 injured.

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has interdicted Colombo Fort Magistrate Kosala Senadheera.
The Supreme Court today refused interim relief in an application filed by President’s Counsel Senaka Walgampaya seeking an Order from the Supreme Court compelling the President to appoint judges to fill the existing vacancies in the Court Of Appeal.
The deadline for online applications to the 2024 G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L) Examination has been extended until July 12, the Department of Examinations said.
