The Badulla – Passara road has been closed until tomorrow (Dec 5) morning due to dangerous road conditions, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) said.
DMC Deputy Director Pradeep Kodippili urged drivers to exercise caution while using the Ella-Wellawaya Road, as earth embankments could collapse onto the road due to heavy rains in the area.
Accordingly, drivers have been advised to use alternate routes until further notice.
Meanwhile, residents of hilly areas have been urged to remain vigilant of any signs of landslides such as the uprooting of trees and cracks appearing on walls.
The public has been advised to contact the DMC on 117 to obtain relief or assistance in the event of any disaster.
