A delegation of the Bangladesh National Defence College (NDC) is currenty visisting the country to boost the bilateral relations between the two countries.
They paid a courtesy call to the Secretary of the Ministry of Defence Eng. Karunasena Hettiarachchi on Tuesday. The twenty four member delegation, led by Major General Hamidur Rahman Choudhury met the Secretary at the Ministry this morning. The delegation which arrived in the island on a study tour includes members of the Bangladesh army, navy, allied course members and also members of the Bangladesh civil service.
Secretary Hettiarachchi had cordial discussions on matters of bilateral importance and mutual relevance with the delegation. Mementos were also exchanged between the Secretary and Major General Choudhury.
Meanwhile the high-level delegation also paid an official visit to the Naval Headquarters and called on Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne on Tuesday.
Subsequently, Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy, Rear Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe delivered a comprehensive presentation on the organizational structure of the Sri Lanka Navy and its operational readiness.
The 23 -member delegation which is on an official visit to Sri Lanka, is scheduled to visit many military establishments across the country during their stay in Sri Lanka. The occasion was attended by senior officers from the Naval Headquarters and Defence Advisor of the Bangladesh High Commission in Sri Lanka, Commodore Aslam Parvez. Mementos were also exchanged to mark this occasion.
