Bank accounts of 41 suspects with links to the National Thowheed Jamath (NTJ) group who are under custody have been frozen, police said today (May 24).
The frozen bank accounts of these suspects had amounts totalling upto Rs 134 million. This was in addition to Rs 14 million which were siezed from the possession of the suspects at the time of the arrest, Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara said.
He noted that these suspects are under the the custody of the Terrorist Investigations Department (TID) and the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
Meanwhile, the CID has also launched an investigation into assets worth Rs 7 billion belonging to the suspects, the Police Spokesman said iduring a briefing today.
