The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has denied reports that parliamentarian Basil Rajapaksa had objected to the proposed no-confidence motion against Minister Rishad Bathiudeen.
Issuing a press release, the SLPP said that MP Rajapaksa had not voiced his objection on the no-confidence motion although the matter was taken up at the party's meeting last morning.
"...Basil Rajapaksa had not expressed any objection verbally or did not make any remarks which implied his objection on the no-confidence motion against Minister Bathiudeen," the release read.
A group of opposition parliamentarians including Chamal Rajapaksa, and Namal Rajapaksa had signed the motion against Mr. Bathiudeen yesterday. Documents show that MP Basil Rajapaksa had not signed the motion yesterday.
