Former Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa yesterday filed a Fundamental Rights (FR) petition before the Supreme Court seeking an order against his arrest by the police Financial Crimes Investigations Division (FCID).
In his petition, Basil Rajapaksa claimed that the FCID is planning to arrest him under the Money Laundering Act with B reports filed on investigations of five magisterial inquiries in Gampaha, Pugoda, Matara and Kaduwela Magistrate Courts.
Mr Rajapaksa had cited ten persons including Police Chief N.K. Illangakoon, Deputy Inspector General of Police at FCID Ravi Waidyalankara, Anti-corruption Committee Director Ananda Wijepala, and the Attorney General as respondents.
