Batticaloa District Secretary transferred
The District Secretary of Batticaloa district Mrs.Kalamathy Pathmarajah has been transferred with immediate effect by the Presidential Secretariat, Secretariat sources said.
K.Karunakaran, Secretary to the Eastern Provincial Health Ministry has been appointed as the new District Secretary.
Local civil society leaders alleged that the transfer was due to political influence considering the tough actions taken by the outgoing District Secretary on land grabbing incidents among local communities in the district.
