The Batticaloa Magistrate's Court has ordered the remains of one of the Easter Sunday bombers to be exhumed from the Kalliyakandu cemetery and be buried elsewhere before September 02.
Area residents had protested against the burial of the bomber who was involved in the attack on the Zion Church in Batticaloa, after his remains had been buried at the cemetery upon court orders.
However, Batticaloa District Secretary M. Udayakumar submitted a motion to court explaining the current situation, following which the court had ordered the exhumation of the remains.
Meanwhile, Batticaloa Magistrate A.C. Rizwan had also ordered five persons including parliamentarian S. Viyalendran, who took part in the protest, to appear before the court on October 4.
