The Immigration Department has received a list of persons who have cases pending related to narcotic offences from the government in order to prevent them leaving the country.
The airport has been provided with the list to prevent such persons leaving the country.
However, if there are persons who may be able to travel abroad despite pending cases they would be allowed to leave the country, a senior official explained.
"We have a method to check if the person can travel abroad in a short period," the official said.
