A duty free officer has been arrested with 40 gold biscuits worth Rs 39 million concealed in his body at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) today (Oct 22).
Customs officials said that the weight of the gold biscuits stood at 1.4 kilos.
Investigations have shown that the officer had been previously apprehended while attempting to smuggle gold jewellery out of the airport.
The suspect has been identified a 26-year old. Further investigations are underway.
