The 4 am SriLankan Airlines flight from Singapore to Colombo on Monday was rescheduled after the windscreen was cracked by a bird strike which occurred mid-flight on its way to Singapore, passengers said.
On board was former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran who checked into a hotel on his own and returned to be seated in Business Class.
Passengers said they were booked into a hotel and returned to Colombo on the 3.20 pm flight from Singapore.
“Despite the pressure mounting on the bond scam with daily revelations at the Commission of Inquiry, he doesn’t seem to be a man who is concerned,” the passenger said. Airline officials were not immediately available for comment.
Mr. Mahendran, who is a Singaporean citizen, is known to regularly travel to Singapore where his family lives. (BS)
