The remains of an individual who was reported missing since last afternoon has been recovered from the Z-D Canal in Aralaganwila, Police said.
Police had launched a search operation to locate the victim who had been identified as 22-year old Nuwan Priyankara, a resident of Ellewewa.
A motorcycle belonging to the deceased had been found near the canal following which his body had been located, police said.
A magisterial inquest and a post-mortem examination are to be carried out on the victim's remains at the Aralaganwila hospital today (Aug 30). Further investigations continue.
