The body of a youth who had gone missing after falling into the sea while attempting to take a selfie atop a boulder in the Rummassala area in Unawatuna, has been recovered today (Jul 18).
According to the police, the body had been spotted floating in the seas and had been recovered by the Navy. The remains have been sent to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
The youth had fallen from the boulder along with three others while taking a selfie earlier this week. However, two youths had managed to swim to safety while two others were reported missing since the day of the incident.
A search operation is currently underway to locate the second missing youth.
