The forensic audit report into the bond scam will remain a confidential document at the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) Secretariat, former COPE Chairman Sunil Handunnetti said.
The COPE had scheduled a meeting today (Dec 3) to decide whether the report could be opened and be made a public document.
However, the COPE, like all other parliamentary committees, except the Committee on High Posts, Sectoral Oversight Committees & Select Committees, were dissolved after President Gotabaya Rajapaksa prorogued Parliament midnight yesterday. Parliament's new sessions will begin on January 3.
"The report will remain sealed as the Attorney General has listed the audit report as a confidential document," Handunnetti told Times Online.
Accordingly, he said the next COPE will be able to decide whether the report could be publicised.
The forensic audit report focuses on transactions of the Central Bank between 2002 and February 28, 2015.
