The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption Wednesday has approved the recruitment of 50 more new police officers to its investigative branch,Director General of the Bribery Commission, Dilrukshi Dias Wickramasinghe said. The investigations carried out by the commission will be expanded further and the new Chairman appointed recently gave the approval to recruiting the police officers. The number of police officers serving at the commission will get increased to 177 after the recruitments, she added. Since January, the commission has received more than 3,200 complaints. Earlier this week, Justice Titus Bodhipala Weerasuriya was appointed as the Chairman of the Bribery Commission. Justice Lal Ranjith Silva and Chandranath Neville Guruge were appointed as commissioners.
