British High Commissioner to Sri Lanka and Maldives James Dauris has, on Tuesday, met with former President Mohamed Nasheed. The meeting took place in Sri Lanka, as the jailed former President is currently in Sri Lanka, after being granted permission to travel to the United Kingdom for surgery.
Noting that it was a pleasure to meet with Nasheed, Dauris, via his official twitter account, said that its has been "more than ten years" since they first met in London. Nasheed, who is serving a 13 year jail sentence, left the country on Monday night, at around 9 pm. The government had, on Saturday, granted Nasheed permission to travel abroad to undergo surgery in the UK. (raajje.mv)
