Budget-2021 of Jaffna Municipal Council defeated for second time
The Budget 2021 for Tamil National Alliance (TNA) dominated Jaffna Municipal Council (JMC) was defeated for a second time today forcing the Mayor E.Arnold to step down from his post.
The Budget which was defeated earlier was submitted again by the Mayor to the 45 member council today and a vote was called. 21 Councilors voted in favour of the budget while 24 voted against it.
According to the Local government regulations, a new Mayor has to be elected within next two weeks since the official declaration through a gazette notification.
