The second Budget of the National Unit Government as passed with a two third majority in Parliament this evening with 162 MPs voting or and 55 against it.
The Tamil national Alliance (TNA) voted in support of the Budget along with MPs Arumugam Thondaman and Douglas Devananda.
Members of the Joint Opposition group and JVP MPs voted against it.
Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa was among the seven MPs who were absent at the time of voting.
