Though cyclonic storm Burevi has weakened into a deep depression and moving further away from the country, cloudy skies, rough seas and heavy to isolated rains will continue in the next few days, the Meteorology Department said.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Northern, North-central and North-western provinces while Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in Galle and Matara districts will receive intermittent rains.
“Wind speed will be 50-60 kmph and it can increase up to 70 kmph at times in the sea areas extending from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar. These sea areas can be very rough at times. Naval and fishing communities are advised not to venture into the deep and shallow sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar until tomorrow (5) morning,” the Department warned.
