Normal private bus services on the Chilaw-Colombo Road have been at a standstill since yesterday (27) due to a protest over an alleged assault on a private bus driver on the route by several other bus employees.
The private bus driver has lodged a complaint with the Maradana Police stating that he was assaulted in Maradana by several persons he recognized to be employees of the Vavuniya-Colombo Inter City bus service.
Chilaw Police said the victim had admitted himself to the Chilaw Hospital for treatment. Maradana Police are investigating.
However, Chilaw-Colombo Luxury bus services are operating as normal.
