The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) says that the shortage of gas will be resolved by November 1, following assurances given to that effect by gas companies.
A shortage of gas was reported island-wide after the government reduced its prices this month, raising suspicions on whether stocks were not being released to the market.
However, CAA Director General M.S.M.Fouzer stated that shortage of gas, was due to the attack on the Saudi Arabian Aramco' oil facility, and the inclement weather in Mumbai - from which gas is imported to the country.
Two companies namely Litro Gas Lanka Ltd., Shell Gas company had informed the CAA that the gas shortage would be resolved shortly, as their stocks are expected to arrive early next month, he said.
