The cabinet of ministers have decided to resolve issues on upgrading the Kalmunai (North) sub Divisional Secretariat (DS) within a month.
It is reported that this matter had figured prominently during yesterday's cabinet meeting chaired by the President.
Internal and Home Affairs Minister Vajira Abeywardena said this issue has been a longstanding one since 1989.
Accordingly, cabinet had decided to resolve these problems while taking into consideration several demands to upgrade the sub DS as a fully fledged independent body.
