The cabinet of ministers have approved a proposal to declare April 15 as a public holiday.
A proposal to this effect was put forward by Home Affairs Minister Vajira Abeywardena during today's cabinet meeting.
"We decided to declare Monday (April 15) as a public holiday since the Avurudu Festival has fallen during the weekend," Home Affairs State Minister J.C. Alawathuwala told Times Online.
