The Cabinet of Ministers has agreed to make three more amendments to the 20th Amendment to the Constitution, Minister of Environment Mahinda Amaraweera stated.
These amendments will be in addition to the ones submitted by the Attorney General to the Supreme Court during hearings into the petitions filed against 20A.
Accordingly, the clauses in the 19th Amendment regarding the composition of the Cabinet and the Audit Service Commission will be retained. Additionally, Mr Amaraweera stated that Cabinet also agreed to limit the presentation of urgent bills to Parliament only to issues pertaining to national security and national disaster.
Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena is due to announce the Supreme Court's determination on the 20th Amendment in Parliament today (20).
