Cabinet nod to establish five-member committee led by PM to address power crisis

News

The proposal to establish a special committee to address the power crisis faced by the country at present was approved by the cabinet yesterday (Apr 09).

The cabinet of ministers had approved the appointment of this committee which would be entrusted with the task of formulating short, medium and long term measures in order to resolve the current power crisis.

This five-member committee headed by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe would include :

Mangala Samaraweera - Minister of Finance
Rauff Hakeem - Minister of Power, Energy and Business Development
Kabir Hashim - Minister of Highways, Road Development and Petroleum Development
Sagala Ratnayake - Minister of Ports and Shipping and Southern Development
